7 Essential Tools for Content Creation

It takes a lot of creative energy to consistently crank out compelling content (we love alliteration!). But the right tools can cut out the less-fun aspects of it. That way you can focus on coming up with great ideas and getting them out there to your audience.

Here are my absolute faves:

Canva

How do I love Canva? Let me not even try to count the ways. I use it literally every day. From videos to photos to graphics to fonts to colors to resizing, it makes creating on-brand content genuinely fun.

Your Template Club

Speaking of Canva, I wouldn't be able to have nearly as much fun with it if I didn't have this incredible template subscription. Their templates are fully customizable and I use them for about 95% of my Instagram content.

iPhone focus mode

I’ve tried easily 4,256 focus apps but when DoorDash hits my phone with the “Still craving Woody’s Cheesesteaks, Lib?” I am utterly derailed. Now I've set up a few different Focus modes on my phone so my notifications are off but I don’t miss calls from my kids. Or -- on some days -- so I can make sure I do miss calls from my kids!

Kit

Obviously I love Kit (formerly ConvertKit) for creating newsletters. But I also love that when I need to whip up a quick landing page for a freebie, or segment my list in a really specific way, the tools are all right here. And you can start for free!

Keywords Everywhere

I don’t pretend to be an SEO expert. But I know the value of creating content with SEO in mind. This Chrome extension includes a widget that shows "people also searched for" along with long-tail and trending keywords. Love it.

Google Docs: The absolute GOAT. Microsoft Word? We don't know her.

Chat GPT:

The copy it produces is still the Walmart to my Gucci but it's the best little assistant when I need something like a 170-character meta-description. And it's free. If you don't have it already, grab my guide to using robots for your least-fun marketing tasks.

And the one I can't stand?

Grammarly.

Here's why: I once heard someone say you don't stop writing until you're done and don't start editing til you're done. Writing and editing at the same time not only slows you down, it also introduces that nagging editor voice while you're trying to freely create.

If you're anxious about grammar and style, just write your thing in a Google Doc then copy and paste it into Hemingway. Much easier on the ole psyche.

The right set of tools can make all the difference in your content creation process. By incorporating effective, low-cost resources into your workflow, you can streamline the process and focus on what truly matters: crafting engaging, high-quality content that resonates with your audience!
